Miguel Saco CollectionMiguel Saco Collection

Miguel Saco, the founder of Miguel Saco Gallery in Manhattan, is a discriminating and highly regarded expert in the fine and decorative arts fields. The gallery specializes in twentieth century art.

Mr. Saco has been actively involved in the arts since his early youth. An accomplished artist in his own right, he has done consulting and curatorial work for major institutions and is a prominent restorer and conservator of fine furniture.

During his tenure as the cultural coordinator of the ICO Foundation (the financing agency of the Spanish Government), Mr. Saco was responsible for putting together important art collections of Picasso and other Twentieth century Spanish masters and curating exhibitions of note around the world.

As a restorer, Mr. Saco's formidable technical expertise, educated eye and artistic sensibility have earned him a brilliant reputation in both the United States and Europe. Over the years, he has restored thousands of masterpieces by the foremost cabinetmakers and furniture designers; most of these are now housed in museums and important private collections throughout America. He has also collaborated with the Spanish Historical Landmark Commission on many major projects, including Madrid's Royal Palace.

Since opening his own gallery in 1995, Mr. Saco's collection of paintings, furniture and decorative arts objects has been a well-kept secret among savy collectors and influential interior designers. In the eclectic selection of works he has brought together, alongside pieces by several artists such as Chareau, Jourdain, Mallet-Stevens, etc. There are unusual works by lesser names and by unknown makers. They all reflect Mr. Saco's taste for clean, pure design without concession to trends or salability.

Miguel Saco Gallery exhibits regularly at the NY Modernism Show and this year will also participate in the International Art +Design Fair.
